چکیده
CLINICAL CASE We present a case of a 67-year-old female suffering for bilateral conjunctival oedema that did not improve with antibiotic and antiinflammatory treatment. After a complete systemic examination she was diagnosed with an adrenal adenocarcinoma and treated by surgery and chemotherapy. The conjunctival chemosis subsequently improved. Unfortunately the patient died of respiratory failure due to metastasis. CONCLUSION We emphasise the need of an exhaustive and complete examination by the ophthalmologist in cases of non-responders to topical antibiotic and antiinflammatory treatment in patients with bilateral conjunctival oedema, in order to make a correct diagnosis of systemic potentially lethal diseases.

Acute adrenal insufficiency as a first presentation of myelodysplastic syndrome and sigmoid colon adenocarcinoma: a case report
Acute adrenal failure due to bilateral adrenal haemorrhage is rare and may initially present with non-specific symptoms. It can rapidly progress into a life-threatening condition if not diagnosed promptly. Both traumatic and non-traumatic conditions have been implicated in the aetiology, with the latter been even rarer. We describe the case of a 57-year-old woman presenting with vomiting and ep...
متن کاملA Case of Bilateral Testicular Tumors Subsequently Diagnosed as Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Due to 21-Hydroxylase Deficiency
21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) caused congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of autosomal recessive genetic disorders resulting from mutations in genes involved with cortisol (CO) synthesis in the adrenal glands. Testicular adrenal rest tumors (TARTs) are rarely the presenting symptoms of CAH. Here, we describe a case of simple virilizing CAH with TARTs, in a 15-year-old boy. The p...

Sweet’s syndrome (SS), also referred to as febrile neutrophilic dermatosis, is an uncommon skin disorder characterized by fever, neutrophilic leukocytosis, red papules, nodules and plaques that respond readily to corticosteroid therapy [1]. Ocular manifestations are rare in SS. We reported a case of SS who developed bilateral conjunctival nodules. Excision biopsy of the right eye’s lesion showe...
متن کاملMetachronous Bilateral Isolated Adrenal Metastasis from Rectal Adenocarcinoma: A Case Report
We report a case of adrenal metastasis from colorectal cancer in a 54-year-old woman. Nine months after resection for advanced rectal carcinoma, a computed tomography scan revealed bilateral adrenal metastasis. The level of serum carcinoembryonic antigen was normal. A bilateral adrenalectomy was performed after chemotherapy. Histopathological examination showed adenocarcinoma, compatible with m...
متن کاملA Review on the Managements of Conjunctivochalasis
Conjunctivochalasis is a bilateral conjunctival disease diagnosed by loose and redundant conjunctival folds, commonly in the inferior bulbar area. It is a common reason for ocular irritation, particularly in subjects older than 60 years of age. There is no treatment for asymptomatic patients. However, symptomatic patients could be treated by a variety of medical and surgical therapies, which wi...
